Starting in Atlanta, Don Adams was ready to break into the industry of music but saw that it was a challenge that could only be overcome by diving in. He started an independent record company called D-Boy Entertainment and based out of Atlanta. Much work and determination in the studio took place and Don signed his first act ‘The East Side Chedda Boyz’ that based out of his home town of Detroit who later split. After the split, Lil Dre a.k.a. Tax Holloway, one of the members of the Chedda Boyz, continued to work with Don and released a song with super producer Mannie Fresh called “Get it Right”. This hot song grew to become a Top 10 record on urban and rap lists and was hitting 300 spins a week independently along the east coast, southern, and midwest US regions.
Don went on to sign Lil Dre to a major record deal. Through this time, Don worked to build relationships in the industry with leading professionals and was turning his contacts into contracts. He found himself working with artists, putting them with major record companies.
Don has worked with several people in the industry including P. Diddy, Lil Jon, Nelly, Dallas Austin, Snoop, Rick Ross, NBA, NFL, MLB Professional athletes, record executives, managers, agents, promoters, and labels, as well as a host of others.
How DBE Agency Expanded
After some time in Atlanta Don was being hounded by promoters to bring in celebrities and artists for walk through’s and performances. Seeing that this was a niche in the industry that needed to be filled, Don needed to find a solution for the B & C artists and markets needing representation. He wanted to give independent promoters the opportunity to be in a position to bring good talent to host parties and performances nationwide. Since the following was large and in a good position down south, DBE Agency was formed, packed, and put on the road to its new location in Beverly Hills, California where it will begin to provide for the west coast as well as expanding further nationwide and internationally. DBE Agency West Coast launched in October of 2011.
