This Day in Rap History Marks the Anniversary of Eazy-E’s Death
There are many events in rap history that are either unknown or forgotten, from album releases to deaths to random ass events most of us can’t even recall. As an attempt to remember those moments, Complex will share an event that helped shape hip-hop in a sometimes minor, sometimes major way. Join us as we look back on This Day in Rap History.
March 26, 1995
Eazy-E was died from complications due to AIDS on March 26, 1995 after being diagnosed with AIDS just a month earlier. Often called “The Godfather of Gangsta Rap,” Eazy-E began his rap career as a member of N.W.A. in 1986, also branching out as a solo artist in 1988. N.W.A. disbanded in the early ’90s, mostly due to an ongoing feud between Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. Fortunately, the two made amends before Eazy-E passed.
